The "14th Five-Year Plan" new chemical materials focus on filling the short board

On September 14, the 2021 China Green New Materials (Zhuhai) Industry Development Conference was held in Zhuhai, Guangdong. Experts from industry associations, research institutions and enterprises discussed the achievements of new chemical materials in the 13th Five-Year Plan, the challenges faced by China's new materials industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan and the road to high-quality development.

Fu Xiangsheng, vice president of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, pointed out that new chemical materials are currently the most concerned parties, and the demand is the most vigorous, one of the fastest growing fields, and its development level is directly related to the international competitiveness of high-end manufacturing, national defense and military industries. During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, China's chemical industry has broken through a number of core technologies such as one-million-ton ethylene complete sets of technology and isocyanate for polyurethane and new nylon materials, and has overcome a number of key technologies such as polycarbonate, PMMA, silicone and fluorine materials, polyphenylene sulfide, etc., which have not been mastered for decades and realized industrialization, and a number of leading enterprises have grown rapidly. A number of leading enterprises have grown rapidly, such as Wanhua Chemical, Dongyue Group and Jinfa Technology, which have become the driving force behind the development of new materials in China.

Fu Xiangsheng stressed that, as the shortcomings of China's new chemical materials industry are still prominent, during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the whole industry should focus on three aspects to make up for the shortcomings and strengthen the weaknesses. First, around high-end polyolefin plastics, engineering plastics, polyurethane materials, fluorosilicon materials, special rubber, high-performance fibers and composites, functional membrane materials, electronic chemicals eight series of new chemical materials, in the high-end and then a new breakthrough; Second, around the capture of a number of "neck" technology, optimize a number of industrialization projects, breakthrough A number of key supporting raw materials, seize a number of high-tech high points, build a number of high-level innovation platform, cultivate a number of leading enterprises and characteristics of industrial clusters six key tasks to a new level; Third, around the automotive and rail transportation lightweight, high-performance film, electronic chemicals, bio-based and biodegradable plastics, supporting special equipment to enhance the five key projects to reproduce a new leap.

"In the past five years, China's new chemical materials output value of more than 650 billion yuan, a 5-year increase of 1.5 times. According to the current situation, the annual output of new chemical materials is 27 million tons, but the annual demand is 37 million tons, there is a market gap of 11 million tons. There are also some "neck" technologies in the development of high-end new materials, and the whole industry is in need of breakthroughs in both process technology and industrialisation." Yang Ting, Secretary General of the Working Committee of Chemical Industry Park of the Petroleum and Chemical Federation, said.

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, director of the National New Materials Industry Development Expert Advisory Committee, Gan Yong said that China has entered a period of high-quality development, but the new materials industry is still not strong technical capabilities, many core technologies hollow, resulting in a more difficult process of industrial structure transformation. In the future in the field of new materials, optoelectronic functional materials and chips, integrated circuits, semiconductors, photolithography, membrane materials and other fields should attract great attention from the industry, while the integration of new materials industry chain and innovation chain should be actively promoted to enhance the level of industrial technology as soon as possible.

Chen Xinzhi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and founding member of the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences, said via video that accelerating the cultivation and development of the new materials industry is of great significance in leading and supporting the development of strategic emerging industries, safeguarding the construction of major national projects and building a new competitive edge in international competition in the new materials industry.

At the meeting, Yang Ting, Secretary General of the Park Committee of the Petrochemical Federation, Sun Guoxing, Associate Professor of the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering of the University of Macau, and Li Shijiang, Chairman of Duofuoduo Chemical Co. The conference will be held in Beijing, China.
